This study investigates the effect of particle velocity on the shear bonding performance of Ag coating deposited on Cu substrate using cold spray technology. The research combines experimental shear tests and molecular dynamics simulations to explore the bonding mechanism and mechanical behavior at both macroscopic and atomic scales. Ag coatings were deposited by cold spraying at varying particle velocities, and subsequent shear strength tests were conducted to evaluate bonding performance between the Ag coating and Cu substrate. The results show that higher particle velocities lead to increased plastic deformation of Ag particles upon impact, thereby enhancing the bonding strength between the coating and the substrate. This enhanced bonding behavior is primarily attributed to increased interfacial contact area and mechanical interlocking induced by severe impact deformation.Furthermore, MD simulations provide qualitative atomistic insights into the deformation mechanisms and stress evolution during particle impact, exhibiting trend-level consistency with the experimental observations.
